Five Things, February 2018

Here are five things that I liked last month. Could be anything from any time, not necessarily a new release in February.

  1. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove–Shovel Knight just needed the right home. The pick up and play style of the Switch makes it so easy to play for a few minutes at a time, and the variety in each campaign is amazing.
  2. The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels–These guys, they’re on to something. Hope one of them has more stuff out.
  3. Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson–The first two books in the series are good, but didn’t exactly blow me away. This book, though. It is a book made with love for the genre, for its characters, for its world. There is so much emotion, so much power, so many damn things happening. The last two hundred or so pages floored me.
  4. Annihilation, dir. Alex Garland–Not a classic, but definitely beautiful, haunting, and interesting.
  5. “Run Away With Me” by Carly Rae Jepsen–because it’s my favorite song, and that sax gets me every damn time.
